"It has been decided that a showcause notice will be served to Bhuniya," state Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said after his meeting with AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi in Delhi.
"I have apprised Rahul Gandhi of Bhuniya's refusal to resign from the PAC chairman's post. Gandhi said that indiscipline in the party will not be tolerated and asked us to serve a showcause notice to Bhuniya," he said.
Not only did Bhuniya not resign from the PAC chairman's post, he convened a meeting of the committee, which PAC members belonging to Congress and the Left did not attend.
Bhuniya had asked Chowdhury to let him work as PAC chairman for a year.
Congress had wanted to give the PAC chairman's post to CPI-M together with which it had contested the West Bengal Assembly election.
