Around 1,000 small, medium and large scale industrial units in the industrial belt area of Ankleshwar, Bharuch, Jhagadiya and Panoli, about 100 km from here, have stopped functioning due to a cut in gas supply.
"Since Wednesday, these units have been closed after gas supply to them were terminated by the gas company," said Arjun Modhwadiya, President of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC).
He also demanded that Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) and the Gujarat government should allow these units to use alternate fuels.
Blaming Modi for the crisis, he said that hundreds of industrial workers and daily wage labourers of these affected industrial units are being terminated from their jobs.
