Rajkumar Chattopadhyay was suspended from his duties a month ago following allegations of taking money in return of plum posting in the district and also disbursing official accommodation to police personnel of choice using his post as secretary of the police welfare board, said Abdul Gaffar, inspector in-charge, Burdwan police station.
A departmental inquiry was on against him, he said.
"A female constable has alleged that Rajkumar was trying to make advances towards her for sometime and on Friday, when she didn't respond and informed the matter to his wife, he threatened her with life.
