Constable arrested for murder hangs himself; 3 cops suspended

A police constable arrested in connection with a murder today allegedly committed suicide in the lock-up, following which three police personnel were suspended.
"Devidas Sinari, a constable attached to India Reserve Batallion, committed suicide by hanging himself at Bicholim police lock-up," superintendent of police Umesh Gaonkar said.
Following which, constables Surendra Narulkar, Ramakant Sawardekar and Paresh Parab, posted at Bicholim police station, were placed under suspension pending inquiry, Gaonkar told PTI.
Devidas and his elder brother Dattaguru had been arrested after a person named Ratan Carol, a locan vendor, went missing. The two brothers had earlier threatened Carol over petty dispute.

Police found Carol's mutilated body in Shapora river yesterday and later arrested Devidas and his brother for murder.
A sub-divisional magistrate has initiated inquiry into Sinari's custodial death.
