Ahead of the two-day 'Biswa Bangla Summit' beginning from January 7 in the city, the Consular Corps of Kolkata today said they would render all help to make the event successful.
The meeting with the Consular Corps of 52 countries, convened by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was described by state Finance Minister Amit Mitra as 'successful'.
A committee was also formed with the representatives of Consular Corps at the meeting to monitor the progress of investment proposals from countries every six months.
Apart from 52 members of the Consular Corps of Kolkata, the meeting was attended by a host of industrialists from Bengal, who are either members of the industrial core committee, steering committee or representing foreign consulates.
Senior officials of a number of departments of the state government helped the CM to highlight the areas which could attract investment.
"We are highly impressed on state government's initiative. This movement has inspired us," Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany Reiner Schmiedchen said.
"Bengal has enough potential to attract investment and we are keen on exchanging knowledge of vocational training and some other areas in which we have expertise," he said.
Consul General of France Fabrice Sebastien Etienne also agreed that the state has potential and lauded the state government for this special initiative to attract investment.
Praising state government's initiative as 'fabulous opportunity for investment', representatives of the UK and the US also assured the CM saying, "We shall extend our cooperation with all our resources."
Hony Consul of Israel Harshavardhan Neotia, Hony Consul of Malaysia Sanjay Budhia and Hony Consul of Czech Republic Utsav Parekh also expressed satisfaction over responses emerged from among the Consular Corps.
Today's meeting is a follow-up measure of the Chief Minister's recent 'successful' five-day trip to Singapore.
A 'Business Synergy Centre', which has already started working under West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation, was officially launched during the interaction with Consular Corps.
