The Kerala High court today initiated contempt proceedings against Pathnamthitta District Collector for non-compliance of its directions to restore a rivulet within a month.
The court had earlier directed the Collector to restore Aranmulla Valiya Thodu, a rivulet, within one month. Even after lapse of the time limit fixed by the court, the orders had not been complied with.
Justice A M Shaffique found the Collector prima facie guilty of contempt and referred the case to a bench headed by the Chief Justice for contempt proceedings.
