The body was yesterday spotted by an autorickshaw driver residing in the locality who saw a man lying in a pool of blood inside the vehicle, Police Inspector of Manpada police station, V Shende said.
Police immediately took the body with stab wounds on his neck and sent it for postmortem.
Later the victim was identified as Satish Rasal, a resident of Dombivili who was a contractor and used to provide JCBs for works.
Police have registered an offence under section 302 (murder) of IPC in connection with the matter and have launched a search to find the killers and are probing the motive behind it, the officer said.
