Pitambar Sao, the contractor, went to monitor work of a BSNL mobie tower installation in the morning when he was accosted by two bike-borne gunmen and shot at from close range, Superintendent of Police Anish Gupta told newsmen.
The identity of the killer and the motive could not be ascertained, he said adding that a police investigation in this connection was on.
Gupta said the victim was stated to have links with the 'People's Liberation Front of India' (PLFI) ultra group in the past but has severed links sometimes back and started working as a contractor.
