Sandeep Singore, posted as a computer operator here was arrested last evening at the IT Range-2 Office in CAD circle area.
An agent of Sahara India, Arif Mohammed on Saturday lodged a complaint that Sandeep demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 for sanctioning a refund cheque of Rs 82,000 of his TDS for the year 2012-13, Vivak Soni, Circle Inspector(CI), ACB Kota said.
The matter was settled at Rs 4,000 which the complainant gave to Sandeep last evening.
Sandeep is an employee placed on contractual bases in the IT office by a Gujarat firm and had been working for last the 4 to 5 years, Soni said.
Despite being a contractual employee, the accused would be prosecuted and treated as a government employee, he added.
However, Income Tax Commissioner Kota, Prem Prakash said, the accused has nothing to do with the department as he was a contractual employee from a firm that supplies manpower.
