Cop booked for raping woman constable

A probationary police sub- inspector was today booked here for allegedly raping a woman constable, police said.
Probationary SI Subhash Dwivedi posted at Pachor police station in the district got engaged to his subordinate woman constable after promising to marry her, they said.
Based on complaint filed by the woman constable, Dwivedi allegedly raped her at a lodge here recently, and also demanded dowry for marrying her, inspector at Pachor police station Sunil Sharma said.
On refusal to his dowry demands, Dwivedi's family member called off the marriage, he said.
Sharma said Dwivedi has been booked under charges of rape while his father K K Dwivedi and other members under relevant sections of Dowry Prohibition Act.
The cop and his family members are at large and a hunt has been launched to arrest them, Sharma added.
