AP Information Commissioner Lam Thantiya Kumary today came down heavily on sub inspector Murali Krishna for not providing protection to activist Vithanala Vishnumurty and his family.
Vishnumurthy had sought information under the RTI act about Ushodaya Merit school which was functioning in violation of government rules.
Subsequently, the government ordered the closure of the school. Aggrieved by the government decision, some people who found out the government action was in connection with queries raised by Vishnumurthy attacked his house, inflicting injuries on his family members and ransacking the furniture a couple of days back.
The information commissioner who summoned Krishna, warned him of severe action for his callous attitude and ordered him to provide protection to Vishnumurty's family or else he would be held solely responsible if anything went wrong.
