Cops pay tribute to BSF personnel martyred in Maoist ambush

Top cops paid homage today to martyred BSF personnel including assistant sub-inspector R Siddhaya, constables M Ravichandran and G Abhinash of 104 BSF battalion, who were killed in a Maoist ambush.
Those who paid homage to the martyrs included Additional Director General (Operations Intelligence) Sunil Roy, Inspector General (Operations) Saumendra Priyadarshi of Odisha Police, Inspector General of Central Reserve Police Force (Southern Sector) M Vishnuvardhana Rao, Commandant 198th battalion of the CRPF (Visakhapatnam) Nisheet Kumar, city police chief Amit Garg.
After being ambushed by the Maoists in the Chitrakonda area in Odisha's Malakangiri district on early Wednesday morning, the bodies of three BSF personnel were brought to the city's King George Hospital today morning by road.
Their embalmed bodies were packed in coffins and shifted to camp office of the CRPF's 198th battalion in the city where security forces laid wreaths and sprinkled flowers on each of the coffins, even as an eerie silence reigned.
Saluting the bravery of the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Maoist ambush, the CRPF observed a guard of honour before their bodies were sent to the airport from where these bodies were sent to their families in Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram and Bengaluru.
