According to police sources, locals this morning found the body of Sish Pal (35) hanging from a tree near his house at Didauli village of the district.
The sources said Sish Pal had filed a complaint with the police, alleging that five youths -- Ashif, Tehdip, Nasim, Gaffar and Asim -- of a neighbouring village had molested his daughter last week.
But police did not act on the complaint due to their busy schedule for elections duty.
Sish Pal went to the police station again after the polling in the area on April 17, and demanded action against the accused. He also alleged that some local leaders of the ruling party had been threatening him for filing a police complaint.
His relatives and villagers today blocked the national highway-24 and gheraoed the Didauli police station.
They were demanding arrest of the accused, politicians who had threatened him and concerned police officials.
Amroha superintendent of police Subhas Singh Baghel said due to the election process police personnel were busy and could not take action in time.
"A special team has been deputed to arrest the accused and action will be taken against the concerned police officials," Baghel said, adding that "we are also looking into the death of Sish Pal".
