Corp Affairs Secy Tapan Ray gets additional charge of DEA

Corporate Affairs Secretary Tapan Ray was today given the additional charge of Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) in place of Shaktikanta Das, who completes his term this month-end.
The competent authority has approved the additional charge to Ray with effect from June 1, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) said.
Ray is a 1982 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre.
The government had in January extended the tenure of Das till May 31. His term was to end in February last. Das had taken over as DEA secretary in August 2015.
Ray has served in various roles in Gujarat between 1984 and 1994, after which he held various positions at the Centre in power, science and technology, textiles and defence ministries before going back to the state cadre in 2006.
He had been in the communications and IT ministry at the Centre for about a year since September 2014.
He took over as Corporate Affairs Secretary in August 2015.
