Corruption industry flourishes in Kerala: Singh

Hitting out at Congress and CPI(M) in Kerala, Union Home minister Rajnath Singh today said they have ruled alternatively by 'hoodwinking' and 'misleading' the people and only 'corruption industry' was flourishing in the state.
While Kerala is far ahead among others in literacy and life expectancy, it lagged in industrial development. "Here no industry flourishes. Here only corruption industry is flourishing," he said, hinting at various scams in the state.
Pointing out that all these years the Congress led UDF and CPI(M) headed LDF had alternatively come to power in Kerala, he said people had stated five years ago that there was no alternative to the Congress at the Centre.

"I can say with pride that BJP became the single largest party. In the centre, the BJP led NDA government of A B Vajpayee ruled the country for six years, after which Congress led UPA government was in power for 10 years. Now the 20 month old Narendra Modi government is ruling and there is not a single corruption charge against our government by the opposition," Singh said.
"I want to ask you why there are no corruption charges against us, but only against UDF and LDF?", he asked.
"LDF and UDF comes alternatively to the state. It seems there is a Mutal Understanding between the two fronts...We will rule this time, you rule the next five years. I don't think they will change. They are hoodwinking the people," he said.

Singh also said that the two fronts fight each other in the state, while they join hands at the Centre and are ready to even form a government.

In West Bengal, discussions are on between the two parties for a tie up, he said.
In Kerala, the Congress and Communists were engaged in 'thallukootal' (fighting each other) and in West Bengal they were in wedding mood 'Modaram mattal' (exchanging of rings).
Aiming to boost confidence of BJP workers in Kerala, he said BJP had performed well in the civic polls, especially in Thiruvananthapuram, where it won 35 of 100 seats.

The Home Minister said in recent past, a large number of
children were rescued and restore them to their families or provide a protected environment to them through a special initiative called Operation Smile - a drive pioneered jointly by Police, Ministry of Women and Child Development, District administration, civil society organisations and community.
Singh said safety, security, dignity and wellbeing of our children and young people will determine the wellbeing and strength of our countries.
"SAIEVAC is a coalition of States which aims at protection of the rights of children, particularly protection of children from all forms of discrimination, abuse, neglect, exploitation, torture, trafficking; that is any kind of violence. The mandate of SAIEVAC is to safeguard childhood and to positively value children," he said.

The Home Minister said in today's fast moving world, many challenges exist for the children. Despite the economic growth, there is a huge population which still lives in poverty and deprivation. This adversely affects the survival, health and overall development of children.
