Airport sources said the seven packets of cough syrup, all of a particular brand which was banned in Tripura, was to be sent from here to Agartala.

During checking at the cargo area, it was found that the contents of the packets were not handicraft products but bottles.

A further check revealed that they were cough syrup which was banned in Tripura as that brand was used as intoxicant, the sources said.

However, it could not be immediately ascertained who booked the consignment, the sources said adding efforts were on to find that out.
