Counting of votes for local bodies election on May 12, 13

Counting of votes for election to Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, eight municipalities in Krishna district and zila and mandal parishad territorial constituency will be held on May 12 and 13.
The election for Vijayawada Municipal Corporation and eight municipalities in Krishna district was held on March 30, while election for 49 Zila Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and 812 Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) were conducted in two phases on April 6 and April 11 respectively.
On May 12, counting of votes of municipal corporation and municipalities election will be held, followed by counting for ZPTC and MPTC on May 13, Krishna district Collector M Raghunadana Rao said in a statement here today.

Counting was scheduled immediately after the polls. But objection was raised by leaders of different political parties, who had filed a petition before the Supreme Court to conduct counting after the general and Assembly elections in the state, while arguing that the result would impact the general polls, sources said.
