Police said that the accused couple has been identified as Devender Gaur (25) and his wife Kavita (28).
Giving the details of the case, police said that on June 5, they received a PCR call about a person lying in an injured state near Shadipur Mandir following which they went to the spot and took him to hospital.
"The landlord of the house near which the man was found had no clue about the matter and also did not recognise the injured person.
Police carried out raids and also undertook technical surveillance to nab the accused who, following a tip-off, were arrested from Kolkata. The cellphone of the alleged victim was recovered from their possession, police added.
According to police, during interrogation, the couple confessed to the crime and said they had put out an advertisement on an online portal for selling a 50" LED TV for Rs 32,000. The victim, one Siddharth Vishwas, contacted them and then went to meet them in Ranjit Nagar.
Police said that Gaur repeatedly hit Vishwas on the head and thereafter took the victim's cellphone and wallet. Later, the couple withdrew Rs 26,000 after obtaining the PIN number of Vishwas's ATM card from his wallet. They then shifted to a hotel in Paharganj. The couple had left for Kolkata on June 8.
