A Delhi court today agreed to hear a plea filed by a local resident seeking order to restrain the police and other central forces from providing security to newly-elected tainted MPs.
The plea was taken up for hearing in the court of additional civil judge Prashant Sharma, who posted the hearing for July 25.
Petitioner cited media reports that several tainted members of Parliament have been elected in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections and they would misuse the official position, if they are provided with security cover.
"...Security will be provided to them, even when they are already criminal and not entitled for the same," the petitioner said in his petition.
He claimed to have aproached Delhi Police for seeking permission to sit on Dharna at Jantar Mantar, but was denied the same.
In the application a direction has been sought that the authorities should not provide security cover to tainted MPs.
