Additional district judge's court through video- conferencing asked Sushil to file the petition when he informed it that he was forced to go on a hunger strike as he was subjected to harassment and was arbitrarily declared 'sick' by jail authorities without medical examination.
Sushil was to be examined in person at the court in connection with a murder case but could not be produced as the jail authorities refused to send him here with escort on the ground that he was indisposed.
On an earlier order by the district court, the Balasore jail authorities had submitted a report in the court stating that Sushil is sick as he is on hunger strike since December 3 morning in protest against a "routine checking of his cell and belongings by the jail staff".
