Court judgements now available at the click of a button: J-K

Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Law and Justice Abdul Haq today inaugurated the renovated library of the department of law at the civil secretariat and said court judgements would now be available at the click of a button.
He said manual browsing of books for research on a case was a time consuming process and availability of resources in the form of e-books and special software online would help in getting the most recent judgements of the Supreme Court and High Courts easily.
"It will be easy for government lawyers to research and update their knowledge. The e-library will act as a major tool to attain qualitative change in grievance redressal system and a powerful force of democracy," the minister said.

He said the updated e-library would make available judgements at the click of the button and lawyers can get a printout of any judgement they need for ready reference.
"The renovation included updating of e-library that would make available court judgements at the click of a button," Haq said, adding the updated library, especially the e-library, would be of great help for law officers, attorneys and other legal officers.
He said the updated facility would help them in proper examination of cases that would lead to early deliverance of justice.
The law minister called for digitisation of records and said the advent of new technology has made it imperative to switch over to digital mode for making things easier for the public.

He also assured all possible assistance to upgrade the library further and directed the officials concerned to explore the possibility of creating more space for the facility.
