Court seeks report from police on Imran Hussain's plea against Delhi CS

A Delhi court has sought response from the city police on a plea moved by Delhi Environment Minister Imran Hussain seeking call detail records in a case related to his alleged mobbing by officials, a day after the alleged assault on the Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash.

Metropolitan Magistrate Abhilash Malhotra directed the SHO concerned to file a report by August 18 after the police sought time in this regard.

The directions were passed on an application moved by advocates B S Joon and Mohd Irshad, who submitted that they were not satisfied with a status report filed by the police, "as a clean chit was given to the CS without making any enquiry and without his joining the investigation".

In the status report filed before the court, the police stated that various CCTV footage of the Delhi Secretariat is examined and so far no evidence has come forward against Prakash for provoking the staff.

The police informed the court that they were still in the process of identification of some of the offenders who are seen in the CCTV footage and need more time to conclude the investigation.

The court was hearing a complaint filed by Hussain seeking summoning of Prakash and other government officials, who were allegedly involved in the incident, as accused.

After the incident related to alleged assault on the chief secretary at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence, Hussain had filed the complaint with the Delhi police.

Hussain had claimed that on February 20, a day after the alleged assault on the chief secretary, he was mobbed by the officials and staff of Delhi government who raised slogans and prevented him from taking the elevator to his 6th floor office at Secretariat.

He claimed that he was restrained from going to his office and his mobile phone was snatched during the incident.

Prakash was allegedly assaulted during a meeting at Kejriwal's official residence on February 19. Two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs -- Amantullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal -- were arrested and later granted bail in the case.

Police have already questioned Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia and 11 AAP MLAs who were present at the chief minister's residence for the meeting.
