The judge K R Upadhyaya had concluded the hearing on January 16 and reserved the order for today. However, today the court said it will pronounce the order on February 5.
Pandey was the Joint Commissioner of Police when Mumbra-based 19-year old college girl Ishrat Jahan, Pranesh Pillai alias Javed Sheikh, Amjad Ali Rana and Zeeshan Johar were allegedly gunned down by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch sleuths on the outskirts of the city on June 15, 2004.
Vanzara was deputy to Pandey in the crime branch when the encounter had taken place. Apart from Pandey and Vanzara, CBI had charge-sheeted IPS officers G L Singhal and Narendra K Amin and other officers Tarun Barot, J G Parmar and Anaju Chaudhary for murder and criminal conspiracy.
