Cousin arrested for murder

A juvenile was arrested for allegedly murdering his cousin in south Kashmir's Anantnag district last week, police said here today.
"Police has solved the murder mystery of a teenager who was found dead in Mattan area. The cousin of the deceased who was involved in the murder has been shifted to Juvenile home, Srinagar," a police spokesman said.
He said the police recovered a body of a teenager Rouf Naikoo, a resident of Nagam Kokernag on December 17. The deceased was putting up with his aunt at Matipore Mattan.
Police registered a case and investigation was taken up, the spokesman said, adding after completing all medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to his next of kin for the last rites.

Special teams were formed to explore all possible angles of the murder, he said.
During the investigation,several suspects were thoroughly questioned and it surfaced that on the fateful day, in the afternoon the deceased had left his aunt's house along with his 14-year-old cousin Baid Bashir, a resident of Matipore.

While playing, the two had an altercation and Baid hit Rouf with a stone on head and he fell to ground, hitting a rock which resulted in his on the spot death, the spokesman said.
Sensing trouble, Baid left the body in a nearby nursery and returned home alone.
Baid has been arrested and shifted to Juvenile home in Srinagar, the spokesman added.
