Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today underlined the need to protect cow, saying its dung and urine are "medicines" and the animal is referred to as "mother" in the Vedas.
"Cow has been referred to as mother in the Vedas. While her whole body is useful, her dung and urine are medicines. Creating awareness along with efforts to protect the animal is the need of the hour," she told reporters at Priyakantju Temple in Vrindavan.
Mahajan also said, "The Vedas tell the way of life...The 'tilak' on the forehead restores confidence and helps a person meet the God.
