Music mogul Simon Cowell has thanked his 12 million Twitter followers for their support and "kind messages", following the death of his mother three days ago.
Cowell, 55, said he was "overwhelmed" by the messages of support he received after his mother Julie Brett died of a stroke, aged 89, reported Female First.
"My family lost someone very special on Sunday. My Mum. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for all of the kind messages received. Thank you," Cowell posted on his Twitter page.
Earlier, announcing Julie's death, Cowell and his family said they were heartbroken and would "miss her terribly".
"Today our beloved mum Julie passed away. Anyone who had met her would know what a truly special and kind lady she was. We are heartbroken and will miss her terribly, but she is now at peace."
Cowell will begin filming auditions for "The X Factor" with Nick Grimshaw, Rita Ora and Cheryl Fernandez-Verscini.
