"Jagatsinghpur MP, Bibhu Tarai has been expelled from the primary membership of CPI for anti-party activities," CPI Odisha unit secretary Dibakar Nayak said.
"It was found that Tarai had been hobnobbing with BJD even after being re-nominated by CPI from his home constituency this time," Nayak said.
Tarai's name had been announced for Jagatsinghpur (SC) seat in the list of candidates released by CPI on March 13.
Tarai's expulsion from the Left party comes three days after CPI suspended its sitting MLA from Chhatrapur, Adikanda Sethi. A day after being suspended from CPI, Sethi joined the ruling BJD on March 16.
