CPI today sought speedy decision on creation of a separate Telangana state and asked the government to consult all parties in Andhra Pradesh on the matter soon, warning of unrest if no decision was taken.
Party General Secretary S Sudhakar Reddy also categorically sought that Hyderabad should be the capital of Telangana, asserting there should be "no Telangana without Hyderabad."
In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he said, "Telangana statehood should not be postponed any more. Even now people are doubting the intentions of the Congress Party. This time if people are betrayed, your party's credibility will be questioned.
"There will be more renewed, militant, massive agitation which may be difficult to suppress. Please take fast and positive decision."
He said the government should hold "separate" consultations with representatives of Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema regions before taking the decision.
On making Hyderabad the capital of Telangana, he said its status "should not be diluted as centrally administered city like Chandigarh. Chandigarh is located exactly between Punjab and Haryana. Hyderabad is in the heart of Telangana."
Observing that Congress Working Committee's decision would be "very crucial", Reddy said, "Before or after the recommendation is made to government by CWC, it is necessary that the government consult all political parties who supported statehood to Telangana and the political JAC which is spearheading the agitation."
He wanted convening of "meetings of all parties of Andhra and Rayalaseema separately to discuss about problem of new capital assets and liabilities."
Maintaining that all sections should be consulted for the smooth functioning of the new state, he opposed any move to "divide Rayalaseema into two states".
