Refuting allegations that Left Front allies are trying to foil the tie-up between Congress and Left Front, CPI today said the impasse over the 20-22 seats between Congress and the Left would be resolved soon.
CPI state secretary Prabodh Panda said friendly fights on a few seats out of the 294 seats would not have any impact on the future of alliance.
"The impasse over a few seats, maybe 20-22 seats, would not have any impact. We have come to an agreement on more than 95 per cent seats of the 294 member-strong state Assembly. A few seats would not have any impact. And we are confident that the impasse would be resolved very soon," Panda said.
Asked what forced the CPI(M)-led Left Front to go with the Congress, Panda said, "We gave a call to defeat the Trinamool Congress and the BJP. The Congress supported our call in Bengal. That is why we have decided to go in for a seat adjustment with the Congress.
