The CPI(M) today demanded a white paper on the seat of the West Bengal government shifting to an alternative location from the Writers' Buildings, which would be repaired entirely, and alleged it was being done to divert attention from real issues.
"We demand a white paper to know where the people will go to," Leader of the Opposition Suryakanta Mishra told reporters here.
"This decision will lead to anarchy. We want to know what the state government wants to do. If it is to be repaired it should be done in phases," he said referring to the state secretariat shifting to neighbouring Howrah district across the river Hooghly from October one.
Claiming that the chief minister was trying to divert attention from real issues like Gorkhaland, lack of investments and rising unemployment, he said "She is not bothered about these issues.
"I don't know whether shifting Writers to the banks of the Ganges will provide her a better solution to the problems of the state.
He said that the party had heard that the chief minister wanted to bring all state ministries under one building.
"That means she wants a careful watch on all ministries so that she can have full control over them," said Mishra.
