The decision was taken at a meeting of the state committee of the party yesterday, a CPI-M statement said today.
If elected, this would be the second term for Das Baidya, who is a prominent woman leader of the state.
The election would be held on March 21 in the premises of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
The Left Front has 50 of the total 60 seats in the Assembly.
