Some unidentified persons burnt party flags at the CPIM office in the city in the early hours of today.
According to police, miscreants pulled down the three flags, hoisted in front of the CPIM office in Udayampalayam, and set them ablaze around 3 AM and fled the scene, which was noticed by some partymen who were sleeping there.
Based on a complaint, police registered a case under Tamil Nadu Pproperty (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Act of 1992 and further investigations were on, they said.
CPI-M and CPI are contesting the April 24 Lok Sabha polls on their own in the state.
