"The budget has totally ignored the southern Odisha district with no allocation of funds for the projects nor sanction of any new project," CPI-M leaders alleged while staging dharna organised by the party's Ganjam unit.
"Allocation of a meagre fund for the proposed wagon factory at Sitalapalli is only a mockery. We doubt sincerity of the Center over implementation of the proposed project," said party leader Judhistra Behera.
The party leaders also came down heavily on Narendra Mod government on the rise in price of petrol and diesel stating that the hike would lead to increase in price of other essential commodities.
The proposed wagon factory was sanctioned by Mamata Banerjee in 2011-12 railway budget and the state government has identified about 100-acres of land. However, the project is yet to make any progress due to meagre allocation of funds in subsequent budgets, the sources said.
