"BJP should apologise to the nation for having had elected Vijay Mallya to Rajya Sabha with its excess votes along with Venkaiah Naidu as their candidate from Karnataka," said CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy in his facebook post.
He accused Mallya of influencing banks in his capacity of a Parliamentarian to take loans and "cheat" the country to the tune of Rs 9,000 crores.
"Will the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi Jee react?" Reddy questioned.
Mallya's resigned from Rajya Sabha on May 4 which was accepted by Chairman Hamid Ansari.
Meanwhile, the enforcement directorate has sought an Interpol arrest warrant against Mallya to make him join investigations in connection with a money laundering probe case after Britain declined India's request to deport the liquor baron.
