"I told (the Chief Minister) that we should have some movement to take up the matter with the Centre and mitigate the sufferings of the Sri Lankan Tamils," party's state unit secretary D Pandian told reporters after meeting the Chief Minister at the secretariat here.

It also proposed to highlight the issue of attacks on Indian fishermen, allegedly by the Sri Lankan navy.

Jayalalithaa endorsed the proposal and said she will discuss the matter with her party, Pandian said.
