A Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI) team might visit Darjeeling in May to evaluate feasibility of reviving potato seed facility here.

"CPRI has written back on our request to come in May and a meeting is expected to see whether the facility can be revived," State Agriculture Minister Purnendu Bose said here on Tuesday at the state secretariat.

He said the Darjeeling potato seed facility was important a few decades back but, it had been closed down by a central government order due to outbreak of disease from seeds.

"Why a facility will remain closed after few decades of an issue? We have requested CPRI to review it's chance for revival," he said.
