Cradle baby reception centers in all PHCs

: To protect baby girls from the evil practice of infanticide,micro-level Cradle baby reception centers would be established in all 37 Primary Health Centers in the district, Collector K Vivekanandan said here today.
Speaking at the Mahila Gramsabha meeting at nearby A. Jettihalli village, he said the state government was implementing various schemes to protect and promote women's welfare. Women, especially those in rural areas, should be aware of these schemes and come forward to avail the benefits, he said
The Collector said a cradle baby reception centre was already functioning at Government Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital premises.
He said that to create awareness among rural women on the importance of the female child, micro-level Cradle Baby Reception centers would be set up in all PHCs in the district.

The Health staff would counsel parents on the importance of female babies and schemes for welfare of women and children, both by the Central and the State Government.
Vivekanandan requested villagers, volunteers and girl students to get in touch with Helpline 1077 if they found any attempted infanticide and harassment against women and children in their area.
The Mahila Gram Sabha meeting was conducted in all 251 village panchayats in the district.
