Acting on a tip-off, sleuths of West Zone DCP arrested B Venkanna Babu (organiser), M Srihari (sub-organiser) and their assistant employee T Madhu Babu yesterday from a location here and seized Rs 1,88,000 besides two laptops with related software along with four cell phones, a release from city police said today.
The accused Venkanna acquainted with one Vijay, reported to be from Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, and gained knowledge of cricket betting set up, it said.
Vijay fed the knowledge of score and rate of betting to Venkanna. Accordingly, Venkanna established the set up at Akruthi Avenue at S R Nagar here and was acting on the directions of Vijay with the assistance of Srihari who procured punters individually, it added.
SR Nagar police is investigating the case and efforts are on to nab the other accused, who are absconding, the release added.
