Criminal carrying Rs 10,000 reward on him arrested in UP

A criminal carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head was arrested in Sitapur's Taalgaav area following an encounter, police said today.
In a statement issued by the office of the UP Director General of Police here, a spokesperson said, "Late last night, during an encounter in Maanpur village, criminals started firing at the police, after they were surrounded."
In retaliatory firing by the police, Rohit Kumar, carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head, was injured, he said, adding that a country-made pistol and ammunition was found on him.
The injured criminal was undergoing treatment at a hospital, the spokesperson said.

Another criminal managed to escape using the cover of darkness and efforts were on to catch him, he said.
