The Madras High Court today quashed a criminal case filed against former union Minister Anbumani Ramadoss in connection with an attack on a toll Plaza at a town in Villupuram district on August 8, 2013.
Complainant E Santhosh Kumar had alleged PMK cadres coming in vehicles behind the vehicle of their leader picked up a quarrel with toll plaza staff at Senguricheri on collection of toll fee and allegedly damaged a toll Plaza.
He said police registered a case in which Anbumani Ramadoss was shown as first accused. A charge sheet was also filed before Judicial Magistrate I of Ulundurpet, Villupuram in this regard.
Anbumani Ramadoss filed a criminal original petition before the Madras High Court seeking to quash the case, which came up before Justice R S Ramanathan today.
The judge noted that during investigation by police neither the complainant nor witnesses had given any statement against Anbumani. The complainant had not mentioned the former union minister's name in the statement given by him.
"Therefore considering the statement given by the complainant and the witnesses during investigation, no case has been made out against Anbumani and nothing has been mentioned in the statement by them that he was present at the place of occurrence and incited the other accused to commit the offence," the judge said.
