Trade across the Line of Control (LoC) between the divided parts of Kashmir on Srinagar- Muzaffarabad Road has crossed Rs 3,700 crores, officials said.
"A total of 3,156 trucks have so far carried goods from Uri to Muzaffarabad, while as 2,881 trucks have carried goods from Muzaffarabad to Uri since 2008, amounting to a total export and import of about Rs 3,700 Crore," they said.
Officials from Baramulla district and Muzaffarabad held a meeting yesterday at Kaman post to ensure smooth trade across the LoC through Uri.
The Indian delegation was led by District Development Commissioner of Baramulla, Yasha Mudgal.
"The meet was aimed at improving LoC trade through Uri and it comprehensively reviewed the status of the cross-LoC trade.
"Various issues related with the LoC trade like over- loading, increasing number of trucks, rates of commodities were also discussed," the officials added.
The issues were taken into account by the concerned officers following which traders were assured that these issues will be solved effectively, they said.
Mudgal visited Trade Facilitation Centre in Salamabad and inspected the construction work being carried out there.
She also directed the concerned officials to speed up the process of the completion of the construction work.
