An online crossword league, being launched by a civil society organisation with the intention to draw the youth towards the brain-teasing game, is all set to start on October 5.
The Indian Crossword League (IXL2013), the first of its kind in the country, will be played in a round-robin league format online, Kushagra Singh, Director of EXTRA-C, the group organising the event, said in a release here.
EXTRA-C (Exhorting Excellence in Extra Curricular), a civil society organisation founded to promote extra curricular activities among the youth, has many senior IAS officers as its patrons. It includes Secretary (Agriculture) in the Bihar government Vivek Singh who has also written a book on crossword.
Giving details of the league, Kushagra Singh said it will have eight weekly online rounds of crossword puzzles open to all participants and an offline national grand finale for the top 10 performers of the online league.
The participants need to register themselves on www.Cryptisingh.Com in order to be part of the IXL2013.
Prizes worth over Rs 5 lakh will be given to the winners in the inaugural year of the competition, Kushagra Singh said.
