He headed the Central Reserve Police Force for close to 15-months.
Meanwhile, Special DG of the force R C Tayal has been named by the Home Ministry as the acting Chief till a successor to Trivedi is appointed.
CRPF, with over 3 lakh personnel in its ranks, is the mainstay for anti-Naxal operations in the country. It is also deployed extensively in its hinterlands for rendering various internal security tasks, including counter-insurgency and law and order duties.
