Crude oil futures eased by 0.23 per cent to Rs 3,079 per barrel today as speculators remaining engaged in offloading positions amid a weakening trend in Asian markets.
At Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in September traded Rs 7, or 0.23 per cent lower at Rs 3,079 per barrel in 7,392 lots.
Oil for October delivery also moved down Rs 3, or 0.10 per cent, to Rs 3,138 per barrel in 165 lots.
The trading sentiment dampened in futures trade as crude oil edged lower in cautious trade today as investors await the release of a US jobs report for August that could determine the Federal Reserve's timetable for hiking interest rates, analysts said.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for October delivery was down 17 to USD 46.58 while Brent crude for October eased 16 cents to USD 50.52 a barrel in late-morning trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
