The U-16 tournament, titled Junior Super Kings and supported by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association will commence here on Wednesday and the final will be held on September 29.
In all 32 teams have been identified for participation in the tournament by invitation on merit basis.
Matches will be held on knockout basis.
Prominent school teams like Don Bosco, Padma Seshadri and DAV have fielded two teams each.
Launching the tournament at a media conference here today, Kasi Viswanathan, Secretary of TNCA, said, "Times have changed and the youngsters have excelled both in academics and sports. In order to provide them a chance to showcase their talents, India Cements decided to introduce this tournament."
The tournament will be sponsored by leading English daily 'The Hindu' and Gulf Oil.
