The Central University of
Jharkhand (CUJ) today revoked the suspension of its Dean Shreya Bhattacharya, three days after suspending her for reportedly inviting a professor of the Jawaharlal Nehru University to participate in its function here.
"Suspension has been revoked as the fact finding committee has found it as a genuine lapse (on her part)," CUJ Vice Chancellor Nand Kumar Yadav told PTI.
The CUJ constituted the committee after suspending her on March 28 in connection with the reported invitation to a JNU professor to a function marking the 140th anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.
As per the revocation order, Bhattacharya, an Associate Professor, Centre of English Language, was suspended on March 28 for "lapses" caused in arranging Sardar Patel 140th Birth Anniversary celebrations.
The committee, which was constituted to examine the lapses, submitted its report today.
In exercise of the powers conferred under Statute 4 (3) of the Central Universities Act, 2009, and in view of the recommendations of the fact finding committee, Vice Chancellor recalled the order of suspension of Bhattacharya with immediate effect.
Her period of suspension stands regularised and shall be treated as on duty.
She has been directed to resume duties immediately.
