An eight-day-long curfew has been lifted from the tension-hit Nainwa town and adjoining Khanpura village of the district, which witnessed violent clashes.
The decision to lift the curfew from Nainwa and Khanpura villages was taken last evening after reviewing the law and order situation and meeting the officials, Additional District Magistrate (administration) Ramjeevan Meena said.
Enforcement of prohibition under Section 144 of CrPC would continue in both the areas till the next order, he said.
Kota Divisional Commissioner Ashwini Bhagat, range Inspector General Dr. Ravi Prakesh and Additional District Magistrate of Bundi Ramjeevan reviewed the law and order situation in the affected areas and held meetings with members of vigilance committee before announcing the lifting of the curfew.
Speaking to media persons, Divisional Commissioner Ashwini Bhagat said the reasons that led to communal tension were critically reviewed and suggestions were sought from members of both the communities who recommended lifting of the curfew.
Curfew was imposed in Nainwa town and Khanpura village of Bundi district on September 13 after a violent mob pelted stones over Nainwa police station.
They also set ablaze a roadways bus and damaged a mausoleum in Nainwa on September 12 following which some miscreants desecrated an idol in a temple in Khanpura village on the same day.
15 persons were arrested in four separate cases lodged in this connection at Nainwa police station.
The then Station House Officer of Nainwa police station Badan Singh was also removed and sent to Bundi police line.
Station House Officer (SHO) Nainwa police station, Gopichand Meena, who took up the charge last evening, said the priority for the police is to maintain law and order situation and peace in the area.
The locals today fearlessly resumed to their daily routine with a feeling of safety and security, he further said.
