Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton on Thursday said that cyber crime has emerged as a major challenge for the law enforcing agencies.
Cyber crimes pose a great challenge to traditional policing and as such the police personnel need to sharpen their skills to tackle the threats, he said.
"We need to have zero tolerance towards cyber crimes," said Patton while inaugurating the state Police Department's first Cyber Crime Prevention Against Women and Children (CCPWC) laboratory cum Training Centre at Police Training School, Chumoukedima.
He expressed hope that the centre will ensure better cyber crime investigation.
Creation of awareness for prevention of cyber crimes must be given priority as most people fall victims to cyber crime due to ignorance, he said.
IGP (CID) Nagaland, Zekotso Mero said that training will commence from Friday where 50 police personnel from different police units will be trained by the year end.
