The D Y Patil Stadium in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, one of the six venues for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, will be handed over to FIFA after September 27.
The exact date for handover of the stadium has not yet been finalised, though.
Officials said that the New Zealand U-17 football team, which arrived in the city yesterday, visited the stadium to have a look.
The stadium, which has undergone renovation, will be hosting Group B matches of the World Cup.
Apart from Navi Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Kochi, Goa and Delhi are the other venues where matches will be played.
