Daily Dump's Poonam Bir Kasturi gets social entrepreneur award

The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship in partnership with Jubilant Bhartia Foundation today presented the India Social Entrepreneur of the Year award to Daily Dump's Poonam Bir Kasturi.
The foundation is a sister organisation of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
The award was presented here in the presence of Power and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal and others.
As per government estimates, homes generate about 75 per cent of all organic waste produced in urban India.
Daily Dump has brought together design thinking, traditional pottery and the science of composting to develop over 50 aesthetic products and services that enable urban Indians to compost their waste at home, WEF said in a statement.

Out of the 150 applicants, four finalists emerged after several stages of rigorous assessment and an independent panel of pre-eminent judges selected the winner.
Shobhana Bhartia, Chairperson and Editorial Director of HT Media, Rohini Nilekani, Chairperson of Arghyam Foundation, Hilde Schwab, Chairperson and Co-Founder of Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, Sudha Pillai Board Member of Jubilant Life Sciences, Anshu Gupta, Founder and Director of Goonj, were among the judges.
"We are delighted that we have four women finalists for the 2015 India Social Entrepreneur of the Year awards - all four entrepreneurs are working on social priorities high on India's policy agenda, including skilling, entrepreneurship promotion and sanitation," Hilde Schwab, Chairperson and Co-Founder of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, said.
